Our Heroes

Lloyd E. Reid

Lloyd Ernest Reid was born on February 2, 1923, in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. He enlisted in the Canadian Army as an underaged volunteer and served with distinction in England, France, and Germany until the war’s end in 1945. Beginning his service as a driver with the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps, he later trained as an X-ray technician with the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps.

In 1943, while stationed in England, Lloyd married Rose Roker. Rose and their young son, George, arrived in Canada the following year, and the family was reunited after the war. They settled on the family farm in Cold Lake, Alberta, before later relocating to the Yukon.

Lloyd passed away in Whitehorse on August 21, 1987, and was honoured with a Legion funeral. His legacy lives on through his children, who now reside throughout southern Alberta and the Okanagan, as well as his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
