Our Heroes

Terence Reginald “Terry” Pond was born on September 19, 1947, in Woodstock, New Brunswick. His lifetime of service began in 1964 when he joined the Canadian military as a reservist. In 1968, he transitioned to the Regular Force, beginning an extensive military career that would take him and his family across Canada and around the world.

Throughout his distinguished career, Terry trained in all ten provinces and the Northwest Territories and served on postings that included El Paso, Texas, Germany, and the Middle East, where he served as a United Nations peacekeeper. He ultimately achieved the rank of Major before retiring from the Canadian Armed Forces.

Terry’s commitment to service continued long after his military career. A Life Member of Centennial Legion Branch 160, he dedicated countless hours to supporting Veterans and the Legion community. Over the years, he served in numerous leadership roles, including President, Past President, First Vice-President, Bylaws Officer, and as a member of several committees.

Terry was married to his beloved wife, Frances, who predeceased him, and together they raised three daughters: Jodie, Kim, and Terri-Ann.

Terry passed away on January 3, 2025. His decades of military service, commitment to his fellow Veterans, and devotion to his family reflect a lifetime dedicated to serving others. Major Terence Pond’s legacy will be remembered with gratitude, pride, and honour.
